PASTORAL PRAYER AND BLESSING
Evidence Beyond Reproach.
The end of another year is upon us. Christmas is already here again. Our reminders of the season come earlier every year. Thanksgiving is not over 24 hours and there are Christmas decorations and sales everywhere. In reality, Christmas should be all year long for believers. We have the Joy of celebration the birth of Jesus and its benefits 365 days a year.
Do you know where the Christmas story really begins in the bible?
Matthew chapter 1? Luke chapter 1? Those are good answers as they do give the traditional account of the Christmas story read in churches and homes through out the world. But it really started 4000 years earlier. Really, you say. Let’s take a deeper look at the birth of Jesus and all that was entailed in the early planning stages.
We need to start at the book of beginnings, Genesis.
15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. KJV
Enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed.
God placed a natural animosity between Satan and mankind.
Enmity has the idea of ill will, hatred, and a mutual antagonism. Satan’s hatred of Eve was nothing new; it was already present – but now man will generally speaking, have antagonism towards Satan.
The “friendship” Eve and the serpent seemed to enjoy earlier is finished.
There is now a natural fear of Satan in the heart of man.
If we are born naturally rebellious against God, we are also born cautious and afraid of Satan.
One must be hardened to willingly and knowingly serve Satan. Instinctively, we serve God or Satan; in serving ourselves we serve Satan thinking we are in control.
Adam and Eve had a choice after the fall there was no choosing or decisions to make. Only how far would the degree of depravity would go. God removed them from the tree of life and the protection and provision of His created environment which had been theirs but now it is under the devil’s authority. God was not without a prepared plan of redemption for man resulting in complete self destruction of his arch enemy. God was always in control of the situation.
He shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel.
God prophesies the doom of Satan, showing that the real battle is between Satan and the Seed of the Woman. There is no doubt this is a prophecy of Jesus’ ultimate defeat of Satan.
God announced that Satan would wound the Messiah (you shall bruise His heel), but the Messiah would crush Satan with a mortal wound (He shall bruise your head). The heel is the part within the serpent’s reach. Jesus, in taking on humanity, brought Himself near to Satan’s domain so Satan could strike Him.
This prophecy gives the first hint of the virgin birth, declaring the Messiah – the Deliverer – would be the Seed of the Woman, but not of the man.
For God to see the defeat of Satan at his first attempt of victory shows God knew what He was doing all along. God’s plan wasn’t delayed or denied but would be of greater creation. His plan is to bring forth not an innocent man but a redeemed man.
So, you see the Christmas story began prophetically 6000 years ago or maybe more. God being omniscient was prepared for the ultimate failure of Satan’s plan to deceive Adam and Eve. Then why did He give them the choice? Love always demands a choice, a decision. It can not be genuine of it is demanded, commanded or has no option.
Adam and Eve made a choice between obedience and disobedience and experiencing the knowledge of good and evil. They did not have to make a decision. They chose to make a decision.
Man knows evil and now makes a choice between the God of compassion, mercy and grace and salvation purchased through the sacrifice of His Son Jesus, redeeming mankind leading to an abundant life now and an eternity with the Creator, the Redeemer and Comforter.
Or humanity can live under the authority of the god of deception submitting to a self destructing, disappointing life, void of peace and satisfaction. A lifestyle of misery and discontent now ending in eternal torment forever. This life of degradation and greed takes no decision.
We MUST make a decision responding to the Love of God and His plan of redemption if we desire an abundant life here and eternity in His Presence.
We have the opportunity to receive the greatest Christmas Gift of all, Jesus as our Lord and Savior.
Now you know the story from prophetic perspective. God always had it under control. Amen?
Have a Merry Christmas!!
Rejoice! As we celebrate the birthday of our Savior, Messiah and soon coming King.
Let’s make Godly decisions and encourage others to do so as well.
